BOOK LAUNCH & SIGNING with Mary Murphy
Acclaimed local author Mary Murphy will be displaying and signing her newest children’s literary creation at Laughing Oyster Books. These seven fanciful tales revolve around frolicking Fairy children searching for a solution for their wee sister’s missing wing interior. Away with the Fairies is a brimming new release which includes the book, an audio CD (of the tales read by Mary herself and three Fairy songs), one old fashioned paper dressing doll with extra outfit (tucked behind the CD), six colouring pages, one Fairy puzzle and seven vocabulary challenges. Audio runs for a little over an hour in length. All this for just under twenty dollars!
Delight in the emerging forest creatures such as Broc the badger, Minar the mouse and an impish little brownie named Nash. The stunning illustrations throughout, by artist Fiona Van Housen, adds a beautiful dimension to these magical, Irish timeless tales.
Mary is an enthusiastic proponent of language expansion through spirited vocabulary and sentence context, while still maintaining the childlike wonder and joy of a storyline. “Mary’s grasp of a child’s sense of wonderment and awe is not just highly entertaining but markedly educational.” – Principal Mount Begbie School, Revelstoke.
Mary Murphy is a renowned Irish singer/songwriter and is the published author of the adult fiction novel, The Emerald Diaries-Secrets of an Irish Clan, which is also available at Laughing Oyster – 286 5th St Courtenay 250-334-2511
